BECOMING A CUP FELLOW

Who should apply?

CUP is looking for talented professionals of color and women who are interested in learning about civic engagement and becoming leaders in their communities. Strong candidates are ambitious, dynamic, creative, and have a desire to strengthen and build platforms that will enhance the lives of others.  Candidates should demonstrate a track record of commitment to leadership and service.  CUP membership is not required to be considered for the program.

How do I apply?

Interested applicants must submit the following:

  1. 1. Electronic Application Form
  2. 2. Letter of Recommendation*
  3. 3. Resume or Curriculum Vitae
  4. 4. Personal & Career Goals Statement
  5. 5. Statement of Interest in the CUP Fellows Program

 

*Applicants can be nominated by a CUP Board member, a CUP member, a CUP partner organization, or by someone within the applicant’s network who can attest to their leadership and strengths.

Resumes or CVs should not exceed two pages.

The Personal & Career Goals Statement should provide insight into the applicant’s professional experiences and describe in detail their interest in civic leadership.  Applicants might consider answering the following questions:

  1. 1. What experiences have shaped your professional career choices?
  2. 2. Why are you interested in civic and public sector leadership and how have you demonstrated commitment to your community?
  3. 3.  What are your future career and leadership goals?

 

For the Statement of Interest in the CUP Fellows Program applicants should consider the core values of the CUP Fellows Program and explain what they want to learn and achieve in the program if selected.

Requirements

All Fellows are required to attend the Fellows Kick-Off Retreat in March 2012 and all subsequent trainings. Applicants should ensure they are available to attend the Kick Off and all trainings before applying to the program.

The Review and Selection Process

Completed applications will be screened and reviewed by the Fellows Selection Committee in January 2012.  Applicants advancing in the process will be invited to participate in an individual interviews conducted by members of the Fellows Committee.  Applicants selected to join the CUP Fellows Program will be informed in mid-February 2012.
